"Uncurated Self" Opening Reception - Jen Fitzpatrick • Waleed Johnson • Linda Ward
I would like to personally invite you to Uncurated Self this Saturday June 8th from 6-9pm at Hatch Art Hamtramck. It is an honor to show my work alongside fellow Detroit artists Jen Fitzpatrick and Waleed Johnson. Our work all examines the very nature of self, the truest self, the one that is the essence of a person’s soul and how they interact with the world around them.
I was on ABC-WXYZ on Monday talking about my #500portraits series and my upcoming show on Saturday. I had a blast and can’t wait to go back! You can watch it here.
Much of the work from my #500portraits series will be on view. I’m so excited to show this series and hear everyone’s comments, questions, insight and everything! It’s exciting because I spend so much time with my work all by myself and then to have many conversations about my work that is so deeply personal and truly resonates with my core - the prospect is thrilling actually. I can’t wait to see you all on Saturday!
And - we will be doing Cash & Carry with my series so you can take home your original artwork right away!
I’m so excited to share my work along-side Jen and Waleed. I think that our work perfectly echoes each other and we are collectively all subconsciously and silently answering the most critical questions: “What is Self”, “Where is Self going”, “What is Self doing” and why.
WALEED JOHNSON
Waleed’s work is soulful, larger than life and examines the real feelings that plague us all in a way that is approachable and real.
JEN FITZPATRICK
Jen’s work is playful, fun and doesn’t take itself too seriously yet is intensely examines in the profound impact of sensory experiences. Her practice is rooted in shape and color language that looks at awareness.
